Ok, folks, the X4 concept has finally hit the internet – officially, that is – and the images that BMW unveiled shows that the leaked images were the real deal.



The X4 Concept, as expected, borrows styling elements from its big brother – the X6 – and extends the BMW Sport Active Coupe line to two vehicles. Up front, you’ll notice the typical BMW trademarks, like the kidney grille and twin circular headlights, so there is no mistaking that this model belongs to an exclusive group of vehicles with the gall to call themselves the “Ultimate Driving Machine.”

The signature kidney grille is highly stylized on the X4 Concept, as its thick chrome surround sets the stage for the vertical grille bars, which are coated in high-gloss black paint, to add an appearance of depth to the front end. Additionally, this expanded grille helps keep the engine running nice and cool at all times.

The headlights come in featuring full-LED technology, assemblies that meet the stylish grille and a twin-circular pattern within the headlight assemblies, just as expected. This simply adds to the familiarity of this concept with the rest of the BMW lineup.

BMW continues onto the front apron, which carries more familiar cues, like the outer air intakes that are larger than the center intake, giving the X4 Concept an aggressive look. Surrounding the center intake on the apron is a matte-silver bar with “X4” embedded in it, which we could live without. Bimmer is all about cleanliness and that gratuitous decal negates that.



Rumor has it that the 2015 BMW X4 will carry the same engines as found in the next-gen X3. This means there will likely be a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that will deliver about 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, and a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine that pumps about 306 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of twist.



Another version, most likely for an X4 M model, is the engine from the upcoming M3, which is suspected to be a heavily reworked N55 engine.

BMW Plant Spartanburg in the U.S. will have the honor of churning out the production X4 alongside the X5, X6 and X3. The production version BMW X4 will hit showrooms in 2014 as a 2015 model year. Unfortunately, no preliminary pricing has been revealed, but we anticipate it starting somewhere in the $45K to $50K range.

BMW's the apple of the car world imo. They've established themselves as a luxury brand so they no longer have to even justify the price they ask -- they just push out more and more cars knowing someone, somewhere will buy them. It's been working thus far lol.

^ good for you, tell me that when your 4 year warranty is over. BMW build things to break after 5 or 6 years in the name of recycling, that four year free maintenance is just engine genocide.

Drive the new x3 and see if you still like BMW... dat electronic steering with no feedback.

BMW is definitely like the new apple; all for the "green" branding, no real breakthrough in engine development. It feels like they are trying to cut corners over the years comparing the New X3 with the old X3.

i actually have to agree wth you on that. last gen bmws were great (thats how i started liking bmw alot more). my friend had a courtesy car with the new 3 series. i drove around a parking lot and it felt like a camry. ill see what will happen with the x5 after the 4 years warranty/free service. but so far, its been good to us. i can sort of keep up with my friend in his s5 when turning in corners!
