It's more arcadey than 13, so depending on your tastes ...

fsy82 08-23-2013 02:41 PM

This game has been in decline since 2011

pure.life 08-24-2013 02:38 PM

how's it going bros? Miss playing with the RS the team but from what I've been reading, NHL 14 is another title to avoid. Agree with Dave, NHL should take a year off and fix their game instead of releasing it every year. Its also better for the cover player. Just look at Giroux :p

Y'all gotta remember that everything is jacked up to emphasize new features in the demo. When the game is actually released, the tuners are normal and it should be a lot better. I've really enjoyed the minor improvements - hitting and fighting feel a lot better, as does the skating.

It doesn't matter. The same bugs are there (weak backhanders from the blueline getting past unscreened "NHL" goaltenders, suction effect of boardplay, suction effect of net battles, etc.), the same "techniques" will bring success, and playing anything remotely resembling real hockey will result in disappointment.

On top of that, they've added one-touch dekes at the expense of cancelling passes, modified the puck chop in a way that makes it awkward to use, and introduced the "enforcer" engine that, even tuned down, will still get you taken off the ice for 5+ minutes without your consent.

I thought day 1 NHL 13 was the best. So much scoring variety just like they advertised.

But then came the tuners and now it's like the old NHL games where all the goals are exactly the same.

I assume they didnt put much effort into this title since Mose of their focus is NHL 15 for the next gen consoles.

Now to find out if there will be a signing event for the game at metrotown. There is a midnight release there, but any word on a midnight launch?

DanHibiki 09-05-2013 07:54 AM

I'm more interested if there are any good deals. Last year I got the game new for 30?

kingdrew 09-05-2013 11:36 AM

What's GMC? The last few NHL's I've only been playing NHL Ultimate Team

ScizzMoney 09-05-2013 12:04 PM

GM Connected?

Jmac 09-05-2013 05:29 PM

EA's sending me the game for free again this year. Have to do some surveys, but whatevs.

DanHibiki 09-05-2013 07:30 PM

Wtf. I wanna get in on that!

NHL 14 is something I don't feel good paying full price for. The changes aren't big enough and we know NHL 15 is the one the guys are concentrating on.

I preordered it for $40 during the E3 promo. Pretty good price for it.

DanHibiki 09-05-2013 09:00 PM

Jmac 09-07-2013 02:34 PM

Best price I could find for NHL 13 trade-in was Play N Trade for $10 ... :suspicious:

EB Games was $4 and Futureshop/Best Buy was $1 ...

DanHibiki 09-07-2013 02:48 PM
