I like Ba Le, but I don't know too many places.

So far I've tried almost every one of Ba Le's sandwiches. I went by myself and ate 4 different ones in one sitting once.

I don't understand why people like Ba Le.

The bread is under-par. It's not as crunchy and light as Tung Hing. As for the pickled carrots and radishes at Ba Le, is it even pickled? It tastes just slightly salty to me, not sweet and tangy like its suppose to be. There no cucumber, and you get more french bread and filling at Tung Hing.

I've heard great things about Au Petite Cafe but have yet to try it.

Mind you, I haven't had a Ba Le sandwich in at least 3 years, maybe some of these things have changed.

If you like Ba Le, you should be blown away by Tung Hing. Good bread always makes the sandwich. Their durian bun (when fresh) and their flakey raisin twist are worth getting as well. The place on Main St. In Chinatown can give Tung Hing a run for its money with their filling (especially their peppery pate) but again their bread is subpar.

Ba Le hasn't changed. Bread is akin to a kaiser bun and the filling is mediocre.

I can tell you guys without a doubt, Tung Hing is where it is at.
Because I work in the DTES, I don't mind going to Golden Train (Pender & Main), they're made fresh and pretty tasty and MUCH better than Ba Le down the street who will give you some cold-ass, sat on the counter for 6hrs shit.

Fuck this Ba Le shit and DEFINITELY FUCK AU PETITE. That place is a total shit hole. Anyone who gives that places props is an automatic retard.

Au Petite gets my vote but i only go there for their meatball one. And chill Alpha, food is so subjective. What one likes, someone may hate and vice versa.

I also forgot to mention the golden phoenix place on Main and Pender. Definitely check that out if your in China town

The sandwich shop is a part of the pho restaurant and used to be a sandwich-only store located at the back of this grocery store on Hastings years ago.

This was my favorite viet sub place growing up

I also like the Ba Le in Chinatown better then the one on Kingsway.

What tnt sells is NOT Banh Mi. It's awful-tasting, texturing-lacking matter.

Au Petite has always been underwhelming and disappointing so to say the least.

I'm with Alphamale on this one.

you guys need to check out that Thy coffee/pho place on Victoria and 39th. its right on the corner with the green banner.

my favorite viet subs place in the south-east Van area

I like Au petit for their curry chicken with bread, but have found a better place for that as well.

Kim chau deli is also good if their still making subs again. most stores and restaurant buy their meats and stuff from them.

In comparison to Subway/Quzinos quality/taste wise, still a huge bargain IMO

I have memory's of a sandwich shop in the back of a grocery store about 15 years ago in Chinatown. I don't know how common it was back then but the store was called bonanza market and I think it was on pender.
