Would doubt they'd be even to get close, like any huge fire, it's still smoldering and there are pockets or sparks/flames.

I hope this has nothing to do with the Boston Marathon.

It sounds like the Movie "red state" is loosely based on this story.

Amonium nitrate is the main component in "ANFO"

ANFO (or AN/FO, for ammonium nitrate/fuel oil) is a widely used bulk industrial explosive mixture.
It consists of 94 percent porous prilled ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3), (AN) that acts as the oxidizing agent and absorbent for the fuel – six percent number 2 fuel oil (FO).[1]
ANFO has found wide use in coal mining, quarrying, metal mining, and civil construction in undemanding applications where the advantages of ANFO's low cost and ease of use matter more than the benefits offered by conventional industrial explosives, such as water resistance, oxygen balance, high detonation velocity, and performance in small diameters.[2]
It accounts for an estimated 80% of the 6,000,000,000 pounds (2.7×109 kg) of explosives used annually in North America.[3]
The press and other media have used the term ANFO loosely and imprecisely in describing IEDs, in cases of fertilizer bombs.[4]

My uncle is a manager for a mine where ANFO is the main explosive used. In the Oklahoma city bombing McVeigh used "The bomb consisted of about 5,000 pounds (2,300 kg) of ammonium nitrate and nitromethane, and motor-racing fuel

at this small mine my uncle runs their supply of ANFO is like 100,000 pounds and this is a relatively small mine. Albeit with ANFO in the form needed to be used as an explosive you need proper ignition equipment, and even when blown to nothing these ignitors can be traced back to the person/company who purchased them, its highly regulated

so if a small mine has that much imagine a facility like this producing it? that video is scary it looks like a fire ball comes right at the vehicle

StylinRed 04-18-2013 12:19 AM

Were did you hear that CNN has only 2 confirmed dead but do think the number will be 50 to 100 plus.

van_city23 04-18-2013 01:12 AM

^ exactly, a lot of reports of different numbers. I also just read on cnn 2 confirmed but on news1130 60 to 70 people and between 50-75 homes destroyed but they didn't say confirmed. The number definitely will be more than 2.

The number of dead remained unclear, with police saying it could be between five and 15. More than 160 people were injured and "three to four" firefighters were missing or unaccounted for, officials said.

Dozens Feared Dead, Hundreds Injured In Fertilizer Plant Explosion « CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

couple good videos in this article

one is about the plant owner saying everybody was off duty and the manager saying the same
judging by their responses this could have been much more than just an "accident"

lots of places in Dallas are having blood drives
