1997 Civic Si : Rattling issue? *Video*

Hey guys, i'm experiencing an issue when i'm driving 1st / 2nd and I hear a rattling sound. When i'm in neutral I don't hear it at all, and it definitely doesn't sound like a rod knock. Could it be my heat sheild?

What do you think that could be?

exhaust might have hopped off the hangers after the cat

sounds like transmission input shaft bearing. Is it just as loud when you decelerate in 1st or 2nd? Does it go away as soon as you step on the clutch?

how long have you heard this noise?

So an update: I discovered It's the Input Shaft bearing that's making the noise. My take is previous owner didn't use the right tranny fluid and that's why it made the noise....... It started making the noise around February-ish? Sigh... i'd mind as well do clutch n everything then while most of the labour is getting the tranny out.

Wrong tranny fluid won't necessarily cause the bearing or bearings to wear. With these civic's, it's often just wear and tear. As long as it isn't grinding while shifting, you're better off getting the trans fixed, as opposed to finding a used one from a wrecking yard
