I purchase my items from Broadway Camera, Photo Expert, Kerrisdale Camera and bhphotovideoc.om
I haven't had the chance to buy from Beau Photo yet but I've been inside their store and its pretty sweet!

I prefer Manfrotto and Gitzo. I'm not a professional so I don't know if those are good brands or not. I'm sure there are many other brands that are just as good or better but I don't know. Maybe ask Matsuda, RCubed or Senna as they know much more.

A little while ago, I was looking up tripods, and I came across a brand called Horusbennu. Looked them up, and it's apparently a Gitzo Replica - that's made in Korea. If you're looking for a good travel, compact tripod, I would take a look at them. They have a big range in pricing and models - depending on the size and stuff. I don't recall ever finding an english site - but you can see all their models on the ebay listings.

just search them on ebay and you'll see what I mean. I've read some good reviews about them - good value for money.

I bought this one and received it last week. For the price i enjoy it.

Quick shipping and good customer service from LD, i've ordered many items from them.

I wouldn't trust a $22 tripod to hold my $2000 worth of camera gear.

Kerrisdale camera has a fotopro tripod for around $150. Not sure what they're comparable to tho.

what and where are you using your existing tripod that you'd be afraid of it falling?

not trying to be rude, but just curious. My "22$ tripod" is quite sturdy.

Manfotto 190 series if you're looking for a well built medium/small sized tripod that's suitable for travel.

055 series if you've got some heavier gear, ie any lens that requires a tripod ring. Or if you're using it for studio.

I've got a 055 with a pan-tilt head for photos and when I need to, I can throw a video fluid head on it or even mount a slider. It's super sturdy and easy to raise/lower however, it's large and heavy. I don't mind though... That's what arms are for.
