I don't entirely agree with you. Your supposed little nugget of insight here is nothing more than a syntax error. Your reasoning is that it isn't hard work (except in appearance) if you have to do it anyway to survive. But I don't find this to be a question of motivations.

And I think it isn't one's race that automatically makes one group of individuals more hardworking in general than others, it has a lot to do with the culture (in addition to things like the environment).
