^data from 1992 about the period between 1965 and 1975? And what's the first one? Too blurry.

Couple of things other than the recency issue : this data looks at a ten year period, just because they committed another crime doesn't mean they will be caught, and this seems to look at a variety of crimes and not specifically violent or sexual crimes where people are often either fucked up in the head, pressured by gangs etc or both

The effects of punishment on recidivism

"The overall findings showed that harsher criminal justice sanctions had no deterrent effect on recidivism. On the contrary, punishment produced a slight (3%) increase in recidivism. These findings were consistent across subgroups of offenders (adult/youth, male/female, white/minority)."
