Star-gazing Spot in or around Vancouver

Where are some good spots near Vancouver that's great for star-gazing?

I want to be as far away from city light pollution as possible without being too far away from Vancouver. Yes I know the sentence contradicts itself.

Thanks!

Dark Sky Park in Abbotsford. It's a designated dark zone for star gazers.

But if you don't want to drive that far, your best bet is probably the Cypress lookout.

Buntzen Lake, Anmore, and Belcarra.

Best bang for your buck distance wise (if you live in Burnaby/Coq/ Or Port Moody - it's basically next door). This is my secret place. It's actually scary driving around here at night as there are no street lights in these areas and it's really dark, plus the sound of crickets and frogs.

It feels like you are miles from civilization, but you are just a 10 minute drive from Port Moody.

Isn't there a gate by the entrance to Belcarra/Buntzen Lake that gets locked at night?

Also, do please be careful on those roads. My friend rolled his lancer there and almost killed himself.

buntzen lake is closed, but you can always drive nearby and park. I won't show you all my secrets on where to go . . . .. . but anywhere in Belcarra/Anmore is far enough from civilization and light pollution to get a decent viewing.

Yes, there are no street lights and I always see people speeding in these parts. The roads are usually one lane and have turns, so you can't drive fast.

there's a backroad to Belcarra. At the 3way stop before the gates to Belcarra, take a right and follow that road, it'll take you to Belcarra when the gates are locked.

Believe it or not, Wreck Beach is actually decent for stargazing at night. I guess the bluff blocks off most of the light.
