Got a really bad stomach ache after Uncle Willys a couple years back, not sure if it was me overstuffing myself, or it was bad food...

The Boss prices are pretty competitive if you guys go for the mini sets on the front page that come with a drink. Works out to be roughly $8 a person before tax and tip.

I was shooting breeze with the staff at HK BBQ Master today (the place under Richmond Superstore).. and I mentioned this.. and they LOL'ed.. saying thanks for letting them know, they didn't know their boss was moonlighting.

However we never know.. the owner of HK BBQ used to work for Hopewell in Coq, back in the 90s when there were a lot of HK stars living in Belcarra. I think he left rather suddenly. If you mentioned his name to the people at the Hopewell that is left (the one on 1st).. you can see the staffs' expression flicker a bit then they say they never heard of him. ;)

What? I know the owner (and his wife and fams) and he used to work there way back in the day; we are talking about the restaurant with the view of the parking lot and the logo was a ship or somthing right? This was in the mid 90s BTW while HK BBq Master opened in the last 7? Years?.. And yes he did work at the Coquitlam resto as well.

I don't know if he left on bad terms or anything (maybe thats why they didnt admit it)at both locations but I can guarantee he was there.

HK BBQ Master drama

godwin 06-04-2013 10:19 PM

As I have said I was just a customer dropping by the place and asking them whether they have a new store at Metrotown. The staff at the BBQ Master are quite insistent that they are the only one and there is no other. Apparently "they are the only store and there is no other" is part of the store sign on the parking lot side.

What are you talking about?!?! Nowhere did I state he has another restaurant in metrotown. I was simply stating he was the BBQ chef at a restaurant before.

As I clearly stated I was referring to the OLD noodle/seafood resto that use to be where the new food court is (the location of that noodle/seafood resto was located in the fireplace area of the new food court) before the huge renovations in metrotown. The owner of HK BBQ master was only a BBQ chef (AN EMPLOYEE) at that noodle place (in the 90s) then the restaurant closed down for the new food court and he went on to work at other jobs before opening his own store (HK BBQ master) 7-8 years ago. There is only ONE HK BBQ Master, and that's in Richmond in the Superstore complex.

*Maybe he was referring to another noodle place (use to be called Flying Noodles located where the Home Outfitters is now located) but I automatically thought of the noodle/seafood resto as they served bbq meats+noods, bbq meats+rice etc*

Razor Ramon HG 06-06-2013 01:01 PM

All this talk about HK BBQ Master is making me crave some roasted pork, but I'm in Korea. Can't even get dim sum here.. fuck me.

Depends which stores your talking about..

I know Boston Pizza & Red Robins are permanently GONE.

dlo 06-06-2013 01:49 PM

think they are all gone now lol

Lomac 06-06-2013 02:42 PM

My favourite part of Metrotown? The door located beneath the Exit sign.

Haven't been there in at least half a dozen years now but my favourite stores back in the day were Rainforest Cafe, Playdium and that cinnamen bun store by McDonalds (Cinzeo?). Used to hang out at the Red Robins and Boston Pizza all the time late at night when I was still dating my ex out in Burnaby.

Oh, and don't forget that Warhammer store. :lol

I was sad when they got rid of that first level food court in the shitty second half of the mall. Was that the Metropolis section? I liked going there because no one knew about it and there were never any lineups for food.

skiiipi 06-06-2013 05:30 PM

There is a Donair Place around the corner where CIBC is on kingsway (forgot the cross street name)
Really good donairs!
I use to walk there on my break when I worked at metro

Can go to the overpriced shit Chinese restaurant in Myeongdong, across from the Uniqlo. It should be underground and I think there was a TGIF there as well.

They got some dim sum dishes, but again, sucks :lol
