Take a look at the Automotive Shots thread in the photography section, you should get a lot of locations by scrolling through the thread.

Sorry to say, but not too many people like giving up their "money spots."

Some places I like going to are, some sorta back alleys, Iono Beach (Fedex parking lot along the way is neat) and the street driving down to it, under bridges are cool, british properties, Granville Island ect. These are my money spots though, and I don't do much.

Good luck!

If you can take a good photo, almost anywhere in the city there is an awesome shot to be taken.

^^ This.

A lot of the more known photographers on RS can take a pic of a car on a regular street/neighbourhood or even parking lots and make them look cool with just the way they take a picture.

Boostslut basically listed out the more common spots people like to take pics at, plus part of the fun is to hunt for a good location :)

If you want more scenic places to take some shots, you should try driving around by the water or more on the outskirts of the city. River road or the dyke by Steveston in Richmond has some good places, and the edge of New West as well

Here are two of my favorite places. Right underneath Arthur Laing bridge, on the Richmond side. Across the river is the cemetery plant. Makes for a nice background

In Vancouver, RCMP building next to Eric Hamber high school. It is on a hill, overlooks city of Vancouver in the background.

BCIT aerospace Richmond.

Fedex compound in Airport (brings you very close to the Fedex planes).

Richmond Oval where you can park right in front of the entrance by going up the flat curb (but watch out going back down.... go back to teh FLAT curb.. not the lifted curb).

+1 for Granville Island. Makes for some cool night shots.

Most often, the car makes the shot. Not the setting. IMO.

Mitskuni 06-11-2013 11:44 PM

Thanks for all the info guys

I agree the car is definitely the center piece and makes the shot but the background definitely helps too.

Im still quite inexperienced so hoping to learn lots from everyone :)

Davie St, in Yaletown.

Dyke Road by Steveston in Richmond is one that I use the most.

Ambleside Park in West Van is a good one too. Nice view of waters and the Lions Gate Bridge.

Like westopher said though, if you can take a good photo, almost anywhere will look good.
