the kids full name is never given, and in all the articles done, not once does it ever mention the name of the app...and its been 3+ years since hes developed it. lot said it was fake.

so until I see proof, im calling it a lie.

If he did make an app I would actually applaud him for it rather than having money and cars falling from the sky like the rest of the Mainlander kids for example. However the app is never really released I don't see it being fully real at the same time. I don't know why but it feels true but fake as well. I mean why keep an app you created on the down low when its such a success story unless Google wants to keep it private like they don't want to buy ideas from a 12 year old. Mixed feelings on this one. He's successful now with all that money, but as to how he got it I guess so far it hasn't been fully clear.

hmmm 2nd video they say his grandparents bought him the first one? Then when talking with the dad it makes it seem like it's actually the dad's car anyways the way he's trolling around.... Also if you make 8 mill, and spend 1 mill on cars in the first couple years you better start making some more apps...

If this is legit, major props to the kid, but I have my doubts. If he made 8.5 mil from an App for Google, then it would be on the Android platform, and I haven't heard of any app making nearly that much money, much less from an inexperienced kid. Making a good app isn't hard, but marketing it and dominating the app's market before it gets ripped off and cloned by an established company is very hard.

// edit - did some more digging around. It sounds like he sold the app directly to Google instead of generating that money via the traditional "users" way. Who knows what the app is, it might just be some novel new concept that Google shelled out the $$ for.
