Nexus 4 Looking to pick one up. Still a good buy at that price point? or should I wait for the refresh? How does this compare to the S4? Significance in difference, in terms of speed? |
Waiting for Moto X. Suppose to be October launch. |
It's a mid-range phone so it's not in the same league as an S4. Get it if you want a good cheap phone. Get the S4 or wait for a refresh if you want a better phone. If you sign a 2 year contract you can get it for free (or even with a gift card). |

i love my nexus 4 looks so slick feels so good in your hand but only downside is no removable battery, my battery life is almost drained mid day if i'm texting a lot during work. i had to buy a portable battery pack in order to sustain my phone... |
^ what kinda battery pack ya got? looking into getting one now acutally |

Don't get it then. Facepalm |
it's hard to justify spending $300+ on a brand new Nexus 4, when you can find many an excellent condition used S3 for around the same price. I know you can compare new to used, and warranties, etc, but I personally couldn't do it. I do like the unlocked Nexus 4's because they can make use of more carriers with their AWS bands. |
But Nexus and S3 are 2 different animals though. The Nexus' selling point is pure Google Android, while the S3 is the previous gen flagship model with all the bells and whistles. It's kind of like comparing between a brand new FRS versus a used last gen 3-series. They might be going for the same price on the market, but they attract different people for different reasons. |
get the White N4!!! |

The OP is comparing it to the S4 right now - so I don't think he really cares about the stock android OS. that, and if you're techy - you can just flash the rom on the S3... hehehe. I just put CyanogenMod 10.1 on my S3 and it's a completely different phone! |
Yeah I don't really care about the pure Android experience. I flash all my phones with CM10.1 :) |
if you want a highend phone, S4... if you want something right now to fill in until a good phone comes out later, N4 cant be beat for the price... |
nexus 4 should be at $200 - $250 range now the mobile shop in super store sometime has scratch and win and/or gift card promo koodoo store sometimes has visa gift card offer with phone cost at $150 $150 on koodoo tab and $50 to $100 gift card (depending on promotion) just wait for these type of promotion, they come and go Best buy and future shop also has the promotion but the gift card is limited to best buy gift card or future shop gift card... (so it is less appealing for me) |

If having a 1080 screen, external sd-card matter to you then go with the sgs4. Spec-wise, the two are not very far off. The Snapdragon 600 in the sgs4 is a small iteration on the Snapdragon S4 pro in the Nexus 4. Same CPU and GPU but at higher clocks and slightly more memory bandwidth. I doubt you will notice it in everyday use. If you're into flashing cm10.1 and stuff then Nexus 4 is still a good choice but the longer you wait the less appealing it is. All the Snapdragon 800 phones are coming out within the next 2-3 months. If you use the phone stock, the Nexus 4 has some dealbreaker bugs (eg. delayed notifications when connected to wifi network, hsic wakelock on 3g, bad screen color calibration). Not a problem if you root and tinker though. |
