Powerline Ethernet Can you safely manage and administrate a router over Powerline Ethernet? Looking for an alternative to wired administration. |
I don't see there being any issues. |
I need to make sure cause I know wireless usually bricks the router. |
the powerline version of the router will act like its on a ethernet connection. So as long as the router supports powerline, i think... |
buy it and try it, if it doesn't work to ur liking the return it. |

;) gotta love that FS/BB return policy. they all price match to NCIX now. |
I don't see why you would have any issues managing your router from a powerline device. The only thing I can think of is if you're worried that they're able to sniff your packets off the electrical lines that you're using.. but you'd have to be pretty important, or pretty paranoid to be worried about that. |

You don't need a specialized powerline router... The powerline version just combines the 2 so you have fewer things. Powerline can be thought of as just a network connection between points differing in that it uses your household wiring. |
the wireless/powerline combo is pretty good if you plan on going powerline route.. less things to worry about, the better... |
wait can someone explain the purpose of a POWERLINE ROUTER to me?? most if not all gateway nowadays are a wireless gateway/router.. so regardless you have to connect a device either powerline adapter or the powerline router to it?? so how does that equate to having less things to worry about gateway>powerline adapter or gateway>powerline router same amount of device? i guess it's useful if you are using your gateway in bridge mode and disable to router function of it?? otherwise it's quite useless no? |
