where to get cheap ram

im desperately in need of ram for my laptop. it has 4gb running win 8 and it's laggy as fcuk. I was planning to upgrade to 8 eventually but didn't think id need it so soon. Anywhere local or online I can get cheap ram?

I've tried NCIX / Memorexpress already. Ram modules are fairly exp!

check your device manager, if you see it on there then you are missing drivers, if you can't see it there, check your CMOS/BIOS settings to see if it's there and enabled.

Sorry I can't answer your question about cheap ram :(

Ram was really cheap last year, then suddenly the prices doubled basically (still better than 2-3 years ago, eg. I bought 4gb DDR3 for $100 before).

I asked on RS, and SkinnyPup said China manufacturers were buying it all.. maybe he could elaborate.

Have you done any basic maintenance on your OS? At least, give CCleaner a run through.

when you say hybrid ssd, do you mean

Quote:

Solid State Hybrid Drive (SSHD): SSHD refers to products that incorporate NAND flash memory into a hard drive, resulting in a single, integrated device.
The fundamental design principle behind SSHDs is to identify data elements that are most directly associated with performance (frequently accessed data, boot data, etc.) and store these data elements in the NAND flash memory. This has been shown to be effective in delivering significantly improved performance over the standard HDD.
if so, it will only show as one device as it is integrated.

(Sorry, thread jack)

But first thing I thought of when I read the thread title "cheap RAM" I instantly thought of when EDO and SDRAM prices were sky high waaaay back and was like :fuckthatshit:

Carry on. :D

4gb should be enough. My Dell only had that much and it runs win8 without any problems.
