installing new printer
 
my desktop is having trouble installing the driver when i plug in the usb for my printer. whenever i plug in other usb's it is fine. does that mean i need a new usb? is it better to use ethernet cable to install the pritner?

and it always fail to install driver when it does connect

Are you installing the drivers off the CD? Maybe try downloading the driver off their website instead.

Make sure you completely delete any partial drivers/software that was installed for the printer, then download the latest drivers off the internet and install it through your hard drive. You can also try plugging the printer into a different usb slot when you're trying to install the drivers.

most likely you will need to use the cd that comes with it or download off the website

You can use both it doesn't matter. What's the error that it's returning? Does it say something along the lines of not all drivers were installed properly or something?

I agree with lilaznviper. I always found it much easier when you install it with the CD.

edit: usually you they ask you to go through the install first and then the wizard will ask you to plug in your USB.

I always use the latest instal package from the manufactures website. Remember donot plug in the usb cable until it tells you to. Also always plug the USB cable into the same port.
