Driver beware (construction) Just to let you guys know if your heading north on Royal oak after Kingsway it's a mess right now. There is grooved pavement but the worst part is there is raised man hole covers on the left lame and big dips and raises. I bottomed my car three times on this downhill stretch so avoid if possible. Hate those raised man hole covers |

I had to let construction crews stop oncoming traffic so I could use their lane to get around horrifically raised/uneven pavement in my old slammed e28. Thankfully they saw me coming a mile away and knew was was about to happen :p Posted via RS Mobile |
Lol all the nice cars come out to play in the summer and all the cities and districts rip all the roads up. HWY 1 all through burnaby and right into the tunnel is a god damn mess. It changes every day and the bumps are horrific at times... |
that raised manhole cover infront of aberdeen is :heckno: |
Yeah, the stretch on Boundary Rd from about Canada Way to 22nd Avenue last week was just like what OP described. Thank god it didn't take them long to repave the road. |
Going down south on Southridge Dr (Byrne Road) past Griffiths Dr, the right lane has a huge dip that`ll devour any front lip lol... There`s signage but at night it`s hard to estimate Stay on the left lane if possible and slow down. |
It's like construction season or something. Construction on Russ baker way (not even grind, its a total re-pavement). Construction on Gilbert patching to the road to Vancouver (before that small bridge) |
almost got rear ended by a van today because i slowed down for a manhole on royal, hope i didnt piss him off too much |
Well, they should see your brake lights. I always get tail gated when slowing down in a construction zone. Never understand why people can't leave enough space. Posted via RS Mobile |
No problems here  :troll: |
Those "raised castings" as they were called in Victoria took out a complete exhaust system on the wifes old Civic... we were driving, saw the sign and both said "whats a raised casting" and then boom. The guys working there walked over, one said that was the 5th car that had suffered damage do to the raised man hole covers. You would think that if people keep wrecking there cars on them it would be better labeled....perhaps that bright paint should be used to make these raised portions of the road. Just after we drove through a new Toyota Carolla drove through and smashed there oil pan....it was stock ride height too. Vancouver is not lowered car friendly. |

Raised manholes cost me $800 when I had my Audi.. Took out my trans pan, ($200 used) + install, plus a full re/re of transmission fluid. Spoiler! Also FYI, Pretty sure the bridge section on Royal Oak is raised up aswell.. TBH I've avoided it like the plague since they started construction. Burris FTW  |
stock car, no problem :troll: |
Thought I'd update this thread with some more spots: Imperial between Canada Way & Walker (waterline replacements) Canada Way between Sperling to Deer Lake Parkway (repaving) Boundary Road Northbound between Kingsway & Canada Way (repaving) |
everywhere on imperial all the way to kingsway, i took a right after hitting kingsway and almost fucking scraped. |

After all, flaggers need work; $20/hour is difficult to live on. |
Boundary is a giant minefield right now. :( |
