Sticky material to make things stand in the car

What is the best thing to use to make figures stand on the cars dashboard area? I tried tape but that doesn't work very well so I was wondering if there is something better? Thanks!

jmanhas 08-11-2013 11:09 AM

did you try double sided 3M tape?

XplicitLuder 08-11-2013 11:10 AM

Careful what you use. I had some dumb idea of using hot glue and it melted on a hot day :lawl:

Was impossible to get off.

Picked up some 3M double sided mounting tape from canadian tire and it doesnt melt.

Previous owner of my E30 (a member here on RS) had a Dunny stuck on the dashboard. He used 3M Double Sided tape and never had any issues. I believe the current owner still has it on the car (also another RS member.)

I have an idea. Don't stick figurines to your dashboard.

i use Blu-Tack to stick my bluetooth gps on my dash at track days to record lap times

i use Blu-Tack over 3M tape is because i can always remove it when not needed, and doesn't leave any mark and best part is that its reusable :fullofwin:

if Blu-Tack can hold onto my dash at the track with 1+ lateral g, it should be fine for daily drive

fliptuner 08-11-2013 07:39 PM

2 part epoxy = strong like bull

inb4 figurine paint fades from UV exposure.

I used to have 2 gundam models on my dash but their guns melted on the dash (they were painted with a gloss paint)

SkinnyPupp 08-12-2013 01:24 AM

ya they stick pretty good until removal time, half will be stuck onto the air freshener and half onto the dash which will be a pain to remove. do not use any foam double sided tape unless its the black 3M foam time with red backing. those do no separate when it comes time to remove.

Stick all minions to dashboards!

Yodamaster 08-12-2013 02:10 PM

hang them on the mirror so you can count the G's.

Phil@rise 08-12-2013 02:19 PM

If you like being laughed at and shunned by some of your more mature friends then use double sided body molding tape.
