The Unofficial Thread about Official Threads

Because, officially, I think people might be confused. I mean, is there a system to go through to have your thread become the "official" thread? What if I want to discuss something unofficially? Do threads cost money, and therefore, we're "officially" trying to lump conversations together?

So here's an unofficial list of official threads. If an official can sign off that this list is official, then it can become the official thread of official threads.

http://www.revscene.net/forums/62766...Locally Thread (Still up for grabs is the Official "Where Can I buy things from afar" Thread
http://www.revscene.net/forums/68717...rossing Thread

Let's not forget the threads that are not yet official.

http://www.revscene.net/forums/67914... for whoaaaaaa (How one makes it one thread and not the other is confusing. Perhaps why neither has been officially sanctioned. Got to work that out kids)

Yes. Yes, the tone of this is I am subtly mocking the official nature of out threading :)

yo dawg!

I, too, am sometimes amused by the pseudo-officiality of threads.

Titling the above threads as official, however, I see as helpful and effective, because it aids in concentrating a discussion, and that eschews sporadic and repetitive posts.

Thanks, MG1!

Gotta agree with Grid. Too many "Official" threads on RS.

Could this be the Official Thread of Official Threads?

SkinnyPupp 08-11-2013 07:10 PM

It just means there only needs to be one thread for a particular topic. Having an "official" workout thread for instance fosters a community that sticks to that one thread. This is rather than having individual threads that get posted and maybe ignored and/or eventually forgotten.

The best part about it is that it is 100% organic, done by the community with no intentions of controlling what people do by mods. If the readers think there is a better way, they are free to post as many topics as they want, despite there being an 'official' one already

Suggestions:

Official Local Current Events
Official Global News
Official 'Murika

There are some interesting global events that get lumped into the "unofficial" thread, that can be worthy or at least fun to discuss.

How about we sticky this so we don't have to go digging through a bunch of pages to find an "official" thread that hasn't been posted in for a few days? Any mods willing to do that?

:spin:
