give it to the police? |
try this to bypass the lockscreen, then from there check the call history/contacts and make some calls? Passcode Exploit: How to Bypass the Lock Screen on an iPhone Running iOS 6.1 « iOS softModder |
just edited my background pic because of this thread. I put some text in saying: reward if found: email@email.com free heroin: email@email.com Covers both angles if an honest person finds it or a vagabond acquires it |
Well apple care said they have no records for the imei. Already put ad on Craigslist asking for pic of kids to claim phone, lol. Posted via RS Mobile |
Police stations can contact the big service providers to determine who owns the phone. Not breaching any policy as the service provider will contact the owner and tell them to pick it up at whatever station. Yeah it may have been sold. But then you're still in the same point of having no one to turn it over to. And if it was sold, and a false owner went into the station to claim it, it would be difficult for them to unlock it. A cell phone nowadays has so much personal information in there that it would be easy to verify the true owner. |
Here's a thought, try capturing the image of the background with the kids onto your computer and then google image search the picture, maybe it's on a social networking site and you can trace it. |
^That might work but if the person's fb was private then you're SOL. Good on the OP for doing a good deed though. |
just take out the sim card and check what provider is on it...? |
Just keep the damn phone..lol |
Take a pic of your cawk and return it to where you found it Posted via RS Mobile |
After this much effort I think you deserve to just keep the phone... Good on you. I've returned every single phone I've found.. Last one was also an iphone5 that I found in the back of a cab. Need more honest people like you. |
yea you already posted the craigslist ad. If nothing comes of it i think its safe to say you have earned it. |
|
If you could hold it until you can get to an apple store, it would be great. Losing pictures of family and kids would be a damned shame! |
Lets be realistic, you found a phone with no simcard in it, in whalley. The phone was stolen to begin with... If nothing crops up nobody is going to try and do more than you did, not the apple store, not the police, the phone will end up in a drawer somewhere or in the police auction. I'd say if nobody collects the phone from you in a few days sell it cheaply and quickly, somebody gets a good deal and you make a little money, no harm no foul. Edit to be clear its the idiots fault for making it this hard to return his phone, I have my name and email right on my lock screen for this exact reason, most people who find a stolen phone even if they want to return it are not going to put a whole world of effort into it. So make it as easy as possible for them to do the right thing... |
