But with higher tax

Every nickel that goes in and out of your pocket is taxed. Same for the person taking and giving the nickel. Canada's tax system is robbery.

Just imagine this, 5 people forming a circle with 1 person standing out of it. One person passes a loonie to the person left of him and it goes around continuously. Eventually, the loonie will become a penny, and where did the rest went? To the person outside the circle.

I think it is a matter of logistics.

Now, this is just conjecture, and an opinion... not proven facts, but here goes:

BC's topography is largely mountainous, so getting gas to remote towns or even towns like Kelowna is expensive.

There is no gas/oil pipeline in BC that can substantially lower the transportation cost of gas.

From the best of my knowledge, there is no gas/oil supply in BC.

There are only 2 refineries in BC and their daily production is very, very low compared to other provinces with similar or even smaller populations.

I think these reasons greatly increase the cost of gas in BC.

But Kamloops had the cheapest gas, and it's no harder to get to than a city like Kelowna. Hell, even Fort St John up North is only a couple cents more per litre. That said, there's no Translink tax past Aldergrove, so that's probably why it's essentially on par with GVRD pricing.
