Considering we are the only jurisdiction on North America that has carbon tax.. Duh! Captain Obvious.
Honestly we need a referendum just simply state, to be environmentally friendly and progressive you will to pay more in taxes etc. Are you willing? Y/N.
Yes we will make you pay more, but also have ads to say how we are doing.
No it will be status quo, but we won't trumpet all the evironmental stuff we have done on ads.

We got new trash cans?
I don't know if thats from the carbon tax...
Well, turns out I was wrong; this is from the the bc website, "The government has a legal requirement to present an annual plan to the legislature demonstrating how all of the carbon tax revenue will be returned to taxpayers through tax reductions."

We pay some of the lowest income taxes in the country, but have one of the highest proportion of senior citizens in the country.
Regressive taxes like the carbon tax make up the difference. At least I can choose to consume less fuel. Posted via RS Mobile |

We wouldn't need all of these taxes if our government had the ability to think logically.
The carbon tax in specific is a joke, what it stands for is laughable in relation to what it actually achieves. It's revenue neutral, but I would rather have my other taxes remain the same over this tax existing.

Our gov is too big, the US, sadly is going the same way | We have government health insurance and a number of legacy social programs that don't exist in the States. I could easily have a debate about what's needed and what's not, but sadly, no one in this country really wants to have a debate about what we really need. Instead, people prefer to complain about a tax without thinking about the larger picture.
And cutting the salaries of bureaucrats is not a solution unless people want less government.

Our gov is too big, the US, sadly is going the same way | America's fiscal policies are hardly superior to Canada's.
In Canada, federal debt per capita is $17,560.68.
In America, federal debt per capita is $52,903.61.
America's comparably low taxation levels are not sustainable, and that's with the benefit of a 'small' government.

America's comparably low taxation levels are not sustainable, and that's with the benefit of a 'small' government. | Never said US system was great, just saying we are way too heavily taxed. Everywhere I turn, I'm taxed... The irony is, become a business owner, pay 13.5% tax (yes there's way more to it than that), but the system here is broken - as a socialist place, the 99% pay way too much tax - we're way more 'American' than we think we are... But with higher tax

I think it is a matter of logistics.
Now, this is just conjecture, and an opinion... not proven facts, but here goes:
BC's topography is largely mountainous, so getting gas to remote towns or even towns like Kelowna is expensive.
There is no gas/oil pipeline in BC that can substantially lower the transportation cost of gas.
From the best of my knowledge, there is no gas/oil supply in BC.
There are only 2 refineries in BC and their daily production is very, very low compared to other provinces with similar or even smaller populations. List of oil refineries - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think these reasons greatly increase the cost of gas in BC.
