Ford has a new Lightning

but it appears this time its not done by SVT, which in itself is pretty cool.

Tantalizing Ford Tremor shakes things up

Garbage power numbers considering it is supposed to be the Lightning successor.

BBMme 08-14-2013 11:01 AM

Don't think it's super charged either

It's not a lightning successor. Just a sporty special edition.

The funny thing is that the Ecoboost V6 actually makes slightly more power than the first 2 years of the original Lightning.

But as kwy stated, this isn't a lightning successor, just a special trim edition of the F150.

Iceman-19 08-14-2013 05:53 PM

Yes, I guess my title was misleading, but thats what you get for not reading. Its not a replacement, its a single cab short box F-150 with a boosted engine. Just like..............the Lightning! I would love to see SVT take this truck and play with it though.

MindBomber 08-14-2013 06:06 PM

The Foose Edition F150 had a Roush supercharged 5.4L V8, and overall closer specs to the second gen Lightening. Still, this is very cool.

Iceman-19 08-14-2013 06:12 PM

That hasnt been around since like 2006ish I think. Roush also did an F-150 that was supercharged in 08 or so. Still not SVT.

you can get a single cab ram 1500 express with a 400hp hemi and 8spd for 25k, try again ford

Iceman-19 08-14-2013 07:34 PM

Except the Ram won't gain 70+rwhp from a tuner, and another 40rwhp from an intake, and another 60ish from exhaust. Coming from a 2011 Ram owner. And its 395, and you wont get one for 25k.

*edit*

I stand corrected, a completely base model 1500 Express is $25290, before tax and fees. If you want to get it to near the level of the FX2............lol.

1990TSI 08-14-2013 08:36 PM

But does it come with a heated tailgate? so your hands are warm when you push it

godwin 08-14-2013 08:53 PM

I think the Ram 1500 diesel will be more of a differentiator than the hemi.. since the ecoboost is touted to drink fuel from a sippy cup. But since the MM diesel is 5k extra.. that's a chock full of nuts.

The ecoboost doesn't sip fuel. It is on par with the Hemi for fuel economy, from what I have seen. Other people have different reports.

FerrariEnzo 08-15-2013 12:01 PM

well.. its a smaller engine 3.5l pushing almost the same number as the 5.4l V8
365 horsepower and 420 lbs-ft of torque vs 380 hp and 450 lbs-ft (2001 - 2004 model year)

I think its pretty good..

the eco is only good for towing. my f150 fx4 with the 5.0L v8 gets the same if not better gas mileage than the eco. you're honestly better off with a supercab ecoboost 4x4 then that "tremor". lol this tremor is useless though, made to look like an fx4 but its not. sorry, such a fail from ford.
