Desktop to receive internet wirelessly? Quick question , not really educated with basics of setting up a computer But my modem is upstairs and I have a desktop and I do not use a router I am wondering what options I have to possibly give me internet to my desktop without connecting a Ethernet cable to my desktop is there a USB receiver or anything I can buy ? If there is could you please provide a link or place where I can get this Thanks Posted via RS Mobile |
You could install a wireless adapter, but if speed and reliability are important to you, then you should look into getting powerline ethernet. It's like a really long extension cable using your home's electrical wiring. There's no software to mess around with, either. |
Modems these days come with built in wireless/wi-fi so you might just need to buy a usb wifi receiver card. Does ur modem have antennas? That's a good indication its got built in wireless :) U can buy the usb adapter from most computer stores or places like bestbuy/futureshop/ncix Posted via RS Mobile |
yea, either USB version or Powerline, which I highly recommend.. both are pretty much plug and play... |
used a usb adapter for ages. no issues. ps: check pm. |
