Simple Codec packs?

Can anyone recommend a codec pack that is very simple to install?

i'm sending a family friend who isnt too good with computers an external hard drive full of movies, TV, etc. and some of them are in formats which play through my DIVX player, so obviously they are using some specific codecs

would it be easiest just to include the DIVX player/installer and their codecs for them to install or are there any easy ones that work with windows media player?

just send them a link to download VLC. No codecs needed past that point.

K-Lite is the best.

I always use K-Lite for so many years.

Use vlc or kmplayer, you don't need codecs. Kmplayer will let you use your own if you have preferences (I use CoreAVC rather than libavc that they use by default)

If you're still using codec packs, you're kind of pretty much doing it wrong ;)

VLC even has a portable version (which takes a little longer to load up), which doesn't even require you to install it.

VLC has never failed me. I throw any format video at it and I have never had an issue!

CCCP + MPC!

If I were to install a codec pack it would be CCCP.
It includes MPC and filters necessary to play most video formats.

However, I usually recommend VLC to people who wants to play videos out of the box.
