My pc failed, help?
 

K so for the past few weeks my computer kept crashing into the bsod, then i would reboot and it will say recovered from serious crash, I was able to get into safe mode for first few times big now all hope is lost. It turns on and freezes at the MSI motherboard loading screen. And when I try to press delete to enter the bios mode so I can boot from cd. Nothing is happening I can't enter nothin. It's just stuck there? Can anyone pitch in? Willing to pay even if someone could come and diagnose it and see if any parts are worth saving? It's a 4 year old rig all custom assembled by I friend that moved away few years ago.

Blue screen of death always had different reasons it was crashing for. I think literally all drivers started failing and now it all just seams f*****. Anyone willing to help?

Either hard drive or motherboard.

If motherboard, you will have to replace most of your components.

Any way to diagnose ? Guess pluggin in someone's hd should do the trick? If I only knew how to do all that crap lol. If someone would be willing to take a look or point me in the right direction would be awesome. Btw thx razor

as Razor Ramon stated, I'm fairly sure it's the HD corrupted. Happened to me before. Got a new HD, installed windows, now it's fine.

^ I second the HD corruption. If you know anyone that was an extra HD lying around grab it and try installing your OS again.

This happened to my Dell a couple of years ago, had a headache trying to diagnose for about two weeks (bsod at start, sometimes it would boot only to die), then grabbed an older HD to test it and voila! Called Dell's stupid customer service to replace it.

I would unplug all the HDs and try booting from CD. A Windows OS CD or even better a Linux Live disc (partedmagic.com). If you cannot initiate (start) the load from a CD, you probably have a bad motherboard. If you can boot from CD, your problem is most likely to do with the hard drive.

K I unplugged my single 500gig hd, put the vista ultimate boot cd I purchased when I did the build. My screen turns on to the motherboard logo screen (MSI) now I'm trying to hit DEL key to try booting from the cd to no avail. Screen frozen at MSI logo and that's it:( that means motherboard is toast? Anything salvageable from the pc? Thx in advance all of u

Obviously the case lol, can I assume the hd should be good? Don't wanna lose my music files :( ram sticks? My gtx260? Power supply? Thx :)

I would probably
1) reset the BIOS
2) listen for beeps
3) replace the power supply
then look at replacing the motherboard.

Would be nice if I knew how to do all that hehe, shit like this always makes me wanna go to apple lol... Guess 5 years lifetime is better than some lol.

RAM or Motherboard.

Take all of the RAM out and see if you can boot into BIOS. If you still can't, then your motherboard is done.

If you can boot into BIOS after taking the RAM out, I'd do a process of elimination, and try each stick at a time and see which one cannot boot into BIOS.

Thx willy it was stick number 3. Works for now but I'll back up my shit nways for safety lol :)
