I am a huge R35 fan but that does sound like an optimistic claim.

Maybe with 600hp+ and something even better than LC4.

I really want to see a factory-built GT-R that weighs 5% less (37XX lbs) and traps at 125mph stock :)

Two seconds? That's what she said.

Holy fuck is right. I'm expecting them to cut at least 2.5s off that time! Can't wait for the GTR time machine!!

is it spring yet for the new GT-R? because...

multicartual 04-16-2014 05:02 AM

Blah blah blah only fucking nerds will own either and your grandmother could beat you 0-60 or in the 1/4 mile with 0 drama

Fucking cars are gay now because they are no longer visceral, look at buddy's face in the Porsche, he looks like he's taking a dump and wondering if he should cook chicken for dinner or have a kale smoothie

Unless you're wheelstanding a car at the drag strip it is no longer an accomplishment to go fast in the same way it is no longer an accomplishment to fuck 4 girls in a week due to Tinder. Electronics have reduced our fun to nothing more than "Launch mode" or "Swipe right"

Fuck this I need to build a car that wheelstands

multicartual 04-16-2014 05:09 AM

Look how straight they go, what's the difference between sitting on an airplane and just letting the Captain get you in the air? Fucking ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I guess that is why tuners build 800+ rwhp versions that can actually blow off all 4 tires and they take some skill to drive. I remember Counter-Strike pre-source where bitches would use the AWP and jump snipe. It just required much less skill than any other gun in the game and everyone knew it was a bitch move to use it. My arch-nemesis Phodem and his brother Naem eventually stopped being fags and we would have AK duels that would result in draws most of the time, that proved some real fucking skill.

Think of it like this, now whenever you want to race someone whether it's at the track or a back country road, everyone is just relying on their computer or some bullshit autopilot to launch you and nobody has true control of their car anymore. Sure, you steer that bitch, but you're not even shifting. You keep your foot in it and that's about it

Technology has taken the fun and brutality out of life, and not in a good way. Anyone else remember when 400 horsepower cars could get fucking scary to drive? Now your grandmother could hit an 11 second quarter mile

+1. It doesnt actually even take 400hp... in my eyes, the scariest car that I can reasonably think of to try and drive quickly in the rain is a 260hp Porsche 930... A C5 Z06 despite having 400hp and all the nannies except ABS being able to be disabled, is a tremendously easy car to drive quickly.

Also I love that that was a cab which murdered the GTR in that drag race... seems like a coupe would be a much more fair fight and at the weight benefit, would be an even more dramatic ass kicking.

Damn, why do you have to bring up CS or CSS?

Memory lane...

I used to just only use the knife... 50:50 kill/die ratio BOOYAH!

It was fun.

You are "brutally" straight-forward and right about the cars.

I got to drive a pre owned GTR at work... and punched it from a stand still (without the "launch control") the car felt like this: rear wheels have a slight slip and by the time u feel it start to completely slip and spin, the front wheels have a huge front end bite of grip and you'd get hurled into speed. That's the only way I can describe it... the AWD system reacts really quickly

Where do you work?

Geoc 04-16-2014 03:22 PM

Thanks to this thread, I spent 10mins doing the math (albeit with a lot of assumptions).

Guys keep in mind, that horsepower is not the main player in acceleration, torque is. Torque to the wheels is not the same as torque at crank. With a 4.06 1st gear, and a 3.7 final drive, it's actually cranking out 9343Nm (6891lb-ft) to the axles at peak torque on powerband and on 1st assuming no drivetrain loss (wheel size will affect actual torque put on tarmac).

xpl0sive 04-16-2014 03:26 PM

this is where it's at... 4000lb car running 8 seconds... and is still completely street legal

GabAlmighty 04-17-2014 07:47 AM

My 1 ton diesel only weighs 2000lbs more than this car. I find that amusing.

Realistically you're not even steering either, you're just telling the computer which way you want it to take you as quickly as possible since the traction computers and shit deal with making the car actually turn hard without spinning off the corner.

This is probably where the earlier math makes sense. The 400 and something avg HP to the road needed to hit 2s is much more easily achieved when you factor in the gearing.
