Aggressive looking Off-Road tires, that are winter rated??
 

I have the Wrangler Duratracs on my Xterra right now and they are awesome

Are there any other options out there for aggressive looking tires that have the snowflake rating?

Or at least are there some tires with great ice/snow characteristics.


Otherwise ill just get another set of Duratracs, since there are great all year-round

I have the Goodyear Territory tires from CT - LT285/70/17. Cheaper than the Duratracs, supposedly last longer, and many good reviews for snow performance (can even be studded). They work great off-roading thus far, have had them up mountains, through mud, and crossing rivers.

I run a dedicated snow tire so I cannot comment on their winter performance, but at least I can run these year round up here if I get caught early without swapping to my snowies (they check tires north of Squamish sometimes and will turn cars/trucks around without snow specific tires without the snowflake).

Here are the differences between the Duratrac and the Territory. I had one Duratrac on my truck for a few weeks while they ordered me the fourth Territory.

It's not particularly aggressive looking (or standout good in ice/snow tbh) but you could always look at A-T T/A KO's as they've got the mountainflake. I still really like the tire, although fair warning if you buy a set and think eh, I'll just replace it when they die, that'll be a while. Frigging amazing tread wear from my experience.

My cousin has general grabber at2 on his xterra and they're winter rated.

I personally run all seasons and dedicated snow tire for half the year each. However if you only drive in the city you can get away with a winter rated all season.

I ran the BFG ATOs for 15 years on a few different trucks. You are right about the tread wear - but you need to add that their performance starts to really suffer past 50% wear; the rubber hardens almost, and they start to suck in the rain, they really suck in the snow, and they just don't die. lol.

Also, below a D class tire and the ATOs puncture very easily - though the OP said 33"s and up, so they will be a D

I'm on my second set of Duratracs, and couldn't go back to another tire.
The traction of the Duratrac is good in nasty weather, and dry conditions, but it's the 10 ply that really sold me. If you do a lot of rock driving, on rough forest roads, you'll appreciate the tough sidewalls. I cut my stock tires within a few weeks of owning the truck by driving on rock-crush roads, and haven't had an issue with the Duratracs since.

I did blow out a bunch of TPMS monitors though. The rough roads, and high psi needed for the Duratracs did them in.
Not the fault of the tires though, the TPMS are just pieces of shi..........

I decided to forgo the Nokian's I was eyeing and picked up a set of barely used Yokohama Geolander i/t. It's got a pretty aggressive look, I think. And they're mountain rated, so hopefully I wont get stuck on the Coquihalla summit. :lol

I used to have MTR's but traded them for Duratracs and I'm more then happy. Great tires that run good on the road. I used to have iroks and those kinda sucked for road noise

on the otherhand, everyone i know who runs duratracs have been impressed and happy with them. i have the gysa's on mine and they do great in the snow and off road as well with minimal road noise :fullofwin:

especially when they were 37's with only 5psi in them:awwyeah:

Duratracs are loud!
Not louder than my exhaust, or stereo, but loud nonetheless.

Load rating varies on rim diameter. I current have a set of 33" with load rating C. These are 15" rim, equivalent tire in a 17" would be a D.
