North Van RCMP Charged for Alleged Speeding Prank

North Vancouver RCMP officer charged for alleged speeding prank

Quote:

A North Vancouver RCMP constable faces a charge under the Movor Vehicle Act.

A North Vancouver RCMP officer lauded in the past for keeping roads safe will appear in court Tuesday after allegedly blowing through a speed trap at high speed as part of an off-duty prank.

Const. Michael Milo Arbulic, 38, faces a charge of excessive speed under the Motor Vehicle Act for driving more than 40 kilometres an hour over the posted speed limit on Highway 1 while off duty on Feb 14 this year.

Few details were available from RCMP's E Division headquarters, which investigated the incident. Sources have indicated Arbulic was clocked at high speed and police in heighbouring West Vancouver were called in to assist, before he eventually stopped and revealed his identity.

Arbulic reportedly meant the dragnet drive-through as a prank.

But at least one fellow police officer was not amused and complained about the incident, prompting an investigation and review by the RCMP's professional standards unit.
Gonna need my :Popcorn for this one.

They are not reaching any depths. This is the single most retarded thing I have heard today, he sped through a speed trap on purpose at a speed most people on RS (judging by past threads on speeding and tickets) is "maniacal", as a joke.

He is a MOFO'ing police officer, way to set an example...

prank my ass

I bet hes tried going to the club, making out with a girl. only to bump into his girlfriend soon after

"Honey, it was all a big joke. I would never go after anyone but you. Wasn't that funny?"

anyways, perhaps the bigger issue here is the speed limit itself.

did they tow his car? says he was excessive but no mention if he faced the same punishment as the rest of us

punkwax 09-17-2013 07:10 PM

Prank or not, the law is the law.

Couldn't you hear any cop saying that?

parm104 09-17-2013 07:24 PM

Cops have to deal with douche bag punks all day. They should be able to speed through a speed trap. What's the big deal? If someone died, it would've been some douche anyways.

60KPH over the speed limit, is the alledged speed. Isnt that reckless driving territory?

Yes, they are also suppose to carry themselves to a higher standard then your average citizen. I'm glad the media got a hold of this, would have been swept under the rug with a slap on the wrist but because it's public he might actually get punished.

I'm not a cop basher by any means but this is just fucking dumb and he should be held responsible for his action the same as any other citizen.

He did get punished, but barely. His car was never impounded, and all he has to do is pay the fine. Which was literally the lowest expense when I got my ticket.

He didnt have to deal with the towing and storage fees, he didnt have to deal with not having his car for 7 days, etc.

Check the link I posted, the system completely failed because the accused was a police officer. Something that under the MVA is an automatic VI regardless of scenario managed to not result in an impoundment.

My question to everyone here is that then why are we the public told it is not up to the discretion of the police officer, if that was the case shouldn't the offenders car have been impounded in this scenario.

I also love the lack of Soundy in this thread. Wonder who's ass he has his head up currently...

EDIT:

And I will point out one more time 60Km/h over the speed limit does not fall under excessive speeding it falls under the even more serious infraction of reckless driving.

Court fines North Vancouver RCMP officer who blew through speed trap as 'prank' - News - North Shore News

rsx 09-18-2013 12:29 AM

Fucking retarded. He should've received a heftier fine and gotten fired.

JaPoola 09-18-2013 12:38 PM

Fucking pig solidarity I guess. If you're part of their club you get special treatment when you shit on "the law". Cock sucker should be forced to give up his car for a week to the impound lot and pay all associated fines.

Not really racist! 09-18-2013 12:40 PM

^ normally I disagree with you but I like and agree w/ that last sentence

fishCak3s 09-18-2013 02:29 PM

So he got a discount. They should get harsher punishment since they're the enforcers of the law

more than that since he just had to pay for it to seem like it never happened.

not on his record or anything

coolname 09-18-2013 04:20 PM

you guys are missing the beauty of this, if you get pulled over doing 40 over the limit just say it was a prank and they cant take your car do to this precedent!

meme405 09-19-2013 12:03 AM

Still no Soundy? Really!?

I'm calling his ass in here, show yourself, I really would love to see how you can defend Cpl. Arbulic's actions.

GodZilla 09-22-2013 11:59 AM

Speeding for 5km's is not smart, what is someone was injured then how funny would the prank be.
