As for steering pos my hands were always at 10-2 with the exception of backing up an as for the railroad i didnt have to cross one as far as i remember the closes thing i saw to a rail road were some xs marked on the road but there were no tracks, may have missed a warning sign if i got docked for it though.

And the reason i am asking about taking my test in maple ridge is because it was the earliest date i could get and i am not familiar of the location.
Who told u 10 and 2?

It's 9 and 3 nowadays (based on consensus, 10 and 2 is how they used to teach it, but has been found to be less effective than 9/3)

See, ur doing it all wrong

If there are railroad tracks you are supposed to clear them like you would an intersection which is a quick look to the left and right BEFORE the tracks

Tips for Ridge (took a test there)

its at the Maple Ridge City Hall, there are 2 - 3 spots outside reserved for only Driving test People

they take you down lougheed usually near Haney Bypass, its a 50 zone (with HUGE SIGNS) but people typically speed, watch your speed there.

They will ask you to turn left at haney bypass, usually this is on to Kanaka Creek Road (if i remember) there is a school here that the signs are kind of hidden and you creep up on it.

watch out for the share the road thing with Horses, they may take you down near maple ridge park to check out if you can handle a roundabout. be careful about the cross walks, on dewdney and 224 they are like every 100ft and almost always there is some old lady waiting to cross to liquidation world :P

pick out all the hazards on the hazard checking skill... include things like where kids could hide or where parked cars may obstruct things

Parking brake - you are not parked until that is on, lots of examiners will fail you if you forget it

lots of new parallel parking zones on lougheed, try them out before the exam, some of them are really short.

They typically want your hands to be on the steering at the 3 and 9 o clock position and when turning use the hand over hand method.

Thanks guys and oh a few more questions i was always told to stay close to the lines on the road so where should you position your car while driving strait, like centre of the lane or close to the left line and for turning left in a turning lane at an intersection are you suppose to shoulder check left and do a 360 check before you turn

If you don't know the answers to those questions - I'm not so sure you're ready to take the test.

I'm not saying you're a bad driver - but I just think you're a driver that might benefit with a lesson or two more from a good instructor.

*edit* and just to clarify, hand positions 9-3/10-2 can be seen as nitpicky - but where you should position your car within the lane - those are fundamentals.
