[Q] Fluid flushing What do people here recommend to use for flushing engine, tranny and brake? and what fluids to stay away |
Flush with engine oil, transmission fluid, and brake fluid. Snake oils = :denied: |
so there is not special fluid to flush with.. just use the respective fluids.. how much to use? |
Inb4 lifetime fluids |
brakes u cant really flush, you just bleed until the fluid is clean. engine oil just do a change after 1000km and should be fine. tranny fluid, same ideas oil |
I'd suggest using water to flush your engine. Here's a guide: http://mustangforums.com/forum/5-0l-...-this-car.html DISCLAIMER: Don't flush your engine with water. |
the only other thing i can think of is injector flushing. the quick solutions in a bottle only help so much, if your car is old, or you just a cheap ass and fill with low grade gas, you may need to have the injectors cleaned properly with a solution and pressurized system. |

Octane ratings will not affect injectors. It has nothing to do with the quality of the fuel. On the average car, cleaning them will barely make a difference. Diesel is another story. |
Also depends on a car... "flushing" is used loosely - you can do drain/fill/repeat until all the old stuff is out...or you can pressurize it and actually flush it out, and refill with new fluids. For example, flushing an auto tranny (with pressure) can destroy it. |

On older cars sea foam has always worked great in my experience (3 cars) Posted via RS Mobile |
for cleaning injectors, ultra sonic cleaning. For engines, dump in some Dec 3 along with some oil and drain till you are satisfied that it's clean. Posted via RS Mobile |
