The Fallen: 9K Silhouettes on Normandy Beach |
I think anyone who complains about their life because the iPhone 5S is sold out should experience war or spend some time with someone who has. That would shut them up quick. Edit: Proofread fail. |
It's because of thoese people that gave their lives we live the life we have today. We are so lucky things didn't end up differently because it really could of. |
Whats unfortunate is our inability to truly relate to what the previous generations endured as a result of war. Feelings of sympathy and respect disseminate from the knowledge we acquire from historical accounts and those that our grand parents pass on to us, yet our generation has been sheltered from the calamity that is war. Our way of life has never been threatened! Instead, we bask in the tepid waters of consumerism unaware that not so long ago this comfortable and pleasant way of life was but a distant aspiration of those before us. I recall the feelings of astonishment and profound shock I felt upon my visit to Auschwitz. Despite my knowledge of the atrocities that took place and seeing first hand what these camps looked like, my imagination's deepest depths remained incapable of portraying what took place. I digress..we've got it good!! |
