exactly my first thought from watching the videos posted. If that faggot did something like "twerk" his ass in my face while I'm sitting on a patio having lunch he'd be making videos with his jaw wired shut for a while....

I'm in no position to say how his approach to filming actually works. For all I know, he could even have gone into the places and respectfully told everyone his intentions prior to the filming. I totally acknowledge the possibility that he approaches it ethically and respectfully......... But he sure does come off as the type of guy to not give a flying fuck about the subjects of his "pranks" for the purpose of garnishing more traffic on Youtube. Can't judge a book by it's cover though

This guys has watched too many CKY and Jackass videos...

You can say the same about any youtube personality/vloggers. If you feel his pranks/videos are lame sure, but to comment on the given/obvious seems moot.

A lot of people use Youtube to advertise their talents, give advice, etc. Some have backgrounds in music, directing and such. This guy just does whatever he can do for views. I know that Youtube can be a platform for anything but it's hard to watch a Youtube personality, such as Chengman, when you can tell that money is their only motive.

He posted here asking for views so he could be the next Peter Chao and Kevjumba before he was banned. I think it's safe to assume his motive.

No offense dude, but you really need to surround yourself with real people to respect and look up, not some YouTube celebrity that fucks with people in public for shits and giggles.

noclue 09-29-2013 09:17 PM

If he was a girl, he'd be doing porn by now for the last grasp of fame.

rsx 09-29-2013 10:43 PM

My reply didn't get posted =(

I'll summarize really quickly.

1. No one is making fun or judging people for working blue collar jobs. Hell, I bet more than half of RSers parents all worked non-white collar jobs. So don't bother trying to guilt trip any of us.
2. Chengman isn't supporting a family of 30 at risk black kids with his youtube channel
3. If you think Chengman is the epitome of confidence and oratory skills, then you have exceptionally low standards.

Spoon 09-29-2013 11:49 PM

scares the fuck out of me that kids find this amusing nowadays.

AzNightmare 09-30-2013 12:15 AM

It's really all for good fun. Some of his pranks do push boundaries though in terms of disturbance.
His squirtle one, the twerking, gangnam style, etc

From my impression, none of these are done by asking permission.
He basically just "crashes" the places. Several of them are done during a lecture at SFU.
Most profs seem alright with it, and the students clap after he's done and leaves.

I'm not a big fan of his approach either, but none the less, I'm still entertained in the end of the day.
And obviously, some pranks are going to be more offensive than others,
and majority of people don't find anything funny when they are the victims.

Too many jimmies rustled in here.

I think you are right, but he is pretty entertaining though.....I give him props for having balls to do that stupid shit

evlee 09-30-2013 07:55 AM

this guy is not entertaining at all

Purely 09-30-2013 08:00 AM

In my opinion, the Squirtle prank was not funny at all, and very disrespectful. How is shooting a water-gun at a 7/11 clerk, or bus driver any funny? These people are working, how are they suppose to change out of their uniforms?

How would you feel if somebody chases you and shoots you with a water-gun out of nowhere?

Acura604 09-30-2013 08:09 AM

... whatever it takes to get the youtube hits. if this lamer has to resort to stupid pranks to get hits so he can rise to some sort of 'stardom'...well, that's his deal. there are tons of these dumbasses out there trying to cash in... unfortunately at our expense of time spent watching their stupid antics.

jmanhas 09-30-2013 03:11 PM

I just wanted to clarify a few things for my friend, Chengman. At the time, money was his only motive. He did come in here trying to promote his material and said he wanted to be the next top youtuber. But after starting his youtube career, he discovered a passion for making videos, editting, and impacting other's lives. Not everybody is going to like his material, and its highly subjective. So I just came in here to let you know that money isn't his primary motive now, but rather to keep doing what he loves. Isn't that what life's about?

So i don't get it; is everyone hypercritical of this guy cause he's from here? or do you not find any of the pranking youtubers funny (vitaly, epic5, romanatwood etc)...by your standards, those guys do some pretty disrespectful stuff and may waste people's time.

tbh, I have no idea who anything of these people are....the people who did this video, the guys that other people are naming, and the list that you dropped. No clue.

I totally dig prank videos....that dude who plays that saxophone at the mall...it fucking kills me every time I see it. The shit from my generation (CKY, Jackass) is some funny shit.

This guy? He is trying sooooooooooooooooooo haaaaaaaaard!! It stinks of desperation, and really, its not funny. His voice is annoying, his over-exaggerating intro is annoying, and its not even like 'twerking' is funny. Take the sound track away....its just fucking awkward and not to mention kinda creepy cause gets all up in peoples' personal space.

I've never seen his other shit...or anyone else thats been listed here, so I'd like to think my opinion is free of any prejudice.

from what i can recall with people like vitaly, they're not offensive and they even let people know they're filming beforehand to get willing participants
and they've also done charitable things on video too, having said that though lines are crossed at times as well
with this chengman guy though he seems downright offensive in all his videos (that i've seen) and clearly asking to be beat or charged with assault

nabs 09-30-2013 04:33 PM

why is this thread still alive...
