Cop tells the bikers there cracking down on them because Liens uncle is a high ranking officer

maybe they should be cracking down on themselves, since it seems like half the idiots were cops

There was only a few cops in the entire rally itself, which I assume is no different than their usual practice of infiltrating protest groups at other social rally's. Maybe one was present and one participated in the particular attack; certainly not 'half the idiots were cops' by any measure. Great logic.

Hearing the lawyer justify the bikers actions make me sick. "Pedestrian" my ass. Idiot didn't have a license! Shoulder checking and slowing down to change lanes? Bite me!

it wasn't an undercover operation it was an actual police/paramedics/firemen/etc motorcycle club called Frontline Enforcers or something (cant recall exactly its in the link) and their club joined this rally and apparently members joined in the attack as well

edit: ah here it is

Quote:

”This is not a motorcycle gang. Frontline Soldiers was a small group of law enforcement individuals and former veterans. The NYPD itself has a motorcycle club, so he was part of an organization of other law enforcement individuals that he thought was involved in charitable organizations and charitable things.”

from the 2nd link

The people responsible should be punished without a doubt. What is fucked up to me is the family is going to sue the city because one of the people who was present at the assault was an off duty cop? I mean I can see suing them personally but suing the city seems so offside to me. You can call me crazy but it seems ridiculous to me that it's even possible but I know in sue happy USA they'll probably win.

I don't know how it works in US law, but in Canadian law, if you sue someone over something and lose, you can't go back and sue someone different for the same thing... so basically, you name everyone even remotely involved from the outset, and hope it sticks to at least one of them.

He wasnt off duty as far as I understand he was undercover. If I'm correct he was acting (sadly) within the requirments of his job as to maintain his cover. That being said him being an employee of the city would be protected by the city so the city would be sued.
