I had a similar reaction to the Gustaffson decision, but looking back it was a close fight, and the right decision. I think if you look at this fight again you'll see how close it is. Keep in mind that the decision doesn't go to the guy who caused the most bruises and cuts.

If ur judging the whole fight as a whole i believe Hendricks won hands down. But they judge by round and its all about Round 1 imo. I guess 2 of the 3 judges believes GSP won it that round cause he obviously won round 3 and 5

The only razor close round was round 1. People are freaking out over this decision based on one round. Go back and watch it again...

GSP takedown right away, almost got him in a guillotine. Hendricks used his beard to cheat, while he was tapping

Clinching and kneeing for a while

GSP has his leg while taking weak shots that Rogan is calling "hard punches"

Hendricks reverses, finally has control after 2 minutes of being controlled

Hendricks takes him down, does nothing. GSP gets right up

GSP shoots, eats a knee. Nice leg kick and jab right after, and a high kick

GSP clinches again, kneeing each other again. GSP landing to the stomach, Hendricks landing on his thigh "These knees are landing over and over again" according to Rogan

30 seconds left, trading leg kicks and punches. Hendricks eats a front kick and counters

Hendricks with a swing and a miss at the bell.

Round 1 goes to GSP

Georges St-Pierre retained his title with a split decision win over Johny Hendricks in what was easily the toughest fight of his career. I had GSP winning rounds one, three and five, as did most on press row, in fact, almost everyone. Joe Rogan was going off on television that it was a bad decision and told Hendricks he clearly won the fight.

Those punches Georges took while in the single didn't really land, maybe twice. He made an ugly face because he was fighting for control

Those knees to the knees were Hendricks' only real striking offense that looked really significant

that's what it sounds like to me... if it wasn't already mentioned before the match that GSP had something to announce at the end of the fight, I think a lot of people would think he BS'd his way out of a rematch

We had it 48-47 Hendricks as well. He did make a mistake by letting up in the 5th round tho. But thought he did enough to win. The sad part is, it's true that damage doesn't count but all about control which I think its fkin stupid. It's ultimate fighting. Not ultimate control championship.
I bet if gsp mentioned that he wud retire for a bit before the fight that Hendricks takes it.

I am glad that lawler ruined tristars plan to have Rory take over had they both won.
