Yeah I think the new owners feel like a main event NEEDS to have a championship title on the line. Usually it doesn't matter since only the hardcores notice this kind of thing. But this time the casuals will know what's going on too, and will create some confusion.

I'm P.Sure he knew it was coming. The important part was getting the visual of holding 2 titles at the same time (which he almost fucked up by not taking his 145 belt with him to the 155 fight  )
If he makes anything of it, it'll be for storyline purposes only IMO

when he's ran out of profitable fights the UFC will give him an "interim" belt like they did jon jones when he was going to face DC at 200 and put him up against whomever is the 145 champ at that time and call it a unification match.
