Rear View LCD Mirror not turning on all the time/ lags before turning on So I've installed one of those reverse mirror with LCD built in. but it doesn't turn on all the time/ instantly when I put the car in reverse. It takes over a minute sometimes on cold days as if it needs to be warmed up before displaying the image. On hot days, it turns on instantly. Its so weird that its temperature dependent. :suspicious: and it doesn't seem like its a defect because I've sent the first one back thinking it was a defect and the second replacement unit had the same problem. I've even bought another completely different model and same thing is happening. :okay: anyone have experience with this? I've had reverse cams with double dins and they've always worked fine, and is pretty instantaneous. |
Um that's very odd. Perhaps there's a cold solder joint somewhere in the connection? Or just a bad connection somewhere. If it's like SUPER cold (freezing temps) then perhaps the LCD liquid is freezing and needing time to warm up. Personally I've never seen any with this issue. What brand monitor is it? |
not sure what they are just 2 different generic ones that I picked up on ebay |
Could try your luck with a local RS sponsor. I've used the Optix ones with no complaints from customers yet. |
Well I've been playing with the system more and my installer and I both think its more likely the camera now, cuz before with the old lcd, the lcd would not turn on until the camera turns on and gives signal. With the new monitor that has a dedicated power button I can power the monitor on, and it will say no signal until the camera image shows up. So I think its the camera now. is there anyway to test by plugging in a new camera or does the whole system have to be ripped out and rewired? |
Just need a video signal to test the monitor |
