this year I was thinking I would try and grow handle bar mustache in a month.

Just finished shaving... Gonna see what happens this year, usually its pretty dirty and gets shaved after about 2 weeks.

Shaved before bed last night... Going from beard to nothing is just the weirdest feeling.

Was just told we're not allowed Movember beards on base until after Nov 11th... Frig.

Why? That seems like a weird arbitrary rule.

I know I'm responding to a year old post, but still - the whole point is to contribute to cancer research and draw awareness to men's health issues. I'm perfectly fine if people want to have a "head start" even if the 'stache comes off December 1st. Half the people participating in Movember don't have any apparent mustache for the first week anyways, weeks two to three are for trying to win a registered sex offender lookalike contest, and only in week four there is the start of a manly 'stache. To be honest though all I care about is that if people are at all able to they should stop not just at growing a Mo-stache or No-Shave November beard but also financially contributing towards cancer research. I've lost an uncle to cancer, my mother has had skin cancer (which is actually the most common cancer afflicting men) and I'm at risk for several myself.

Please, if you're able - donate through either the Movember Foundation or more generally through the Canadian Cancer Society.

Besides - I'm not about to shave my beard (or mustache) anytime soon:
