Being a level 2 FA and a supervisor at a union job, I find it hard to believe that many people, especially the WCB case manager is against you being on light duties.

You have a torn MCL, not brain damage. I'm surprised they can't find you some work where you can sit. Like counting nails or looking for duds at a bomb factory.

(last reference is to an old Bugs Bunny cartoon, not to poke fun at your current situation OP)

GrapeDrink 10-30-2013 01:47 PM

in your original thread from maybe a month ago, you made it sound like the whole " does anyone have dirt on Jeremy thing" to be like some serious accusation and that they were trying to actually find dirt on you to not pay WCB. Now it sounds more like a joke made in poor taste?

fishCak3s 10-30-2013 01:49 PM

The sole purpose of WorkSafeBC and your company after you're injured is to work together to bring you back graduately to pre-injury capacity. If you can no longer perform pre-injury tasks, tasks at reduced capacity or alternative tasks will be provided.

Like SumAznGuy said, WorkSafeBC and their nurse advisors will not say no to alternate duties if you are fit to perform these duties.

I've made modified worker offers to employees who can't perform their regular duties to sit at reception and take phone calls and gradually bring them back to their normal duties as they recover.

Theres two sides to every coin. Yours is you got hurt and are feeling singled out. Theirs you got hurt and they dont feel responsible.
Howd you get hurt? Plenty of workplace injuries really are due to poor worker habits or stupidity not because of a dangerous work place or employer enforced unsafe work practice. So if you did somethin stupid to get hurt suck it up princess. If you didnt tie your work boots and tripped well suck it up. If a forklift ran into you and popped your knee tell your boss singling you out to stuff it.

Of course it's a joke. If they really wanted to find dirt on him you think the superintendant would announce it to the entire company like that?

Man if i could milk some money for every borderline joke in my work. When i came into the thread, I was expecting your colleagues or supervisors to be questioning the legitimacy of your injury. Trying to find dirt on you means that if you're a naughty boy they can just fire you instead of paying your sensitive ass. Now man up and buy your supe a coffee, he sounds like a chill guy.

ya, there this huge trend against harassment and "bullying". I'm sure there are many legit cases where certain managers are just douchebags, but I have a feeling many will be abusing it saying their managers were bullying them. I cant make my deadlines or targets, im being bullied. . . . when its actually the employee that sucks.

from what im seeing, it sounds like they are offering you light duty work, and you dont want to do it because you rather be at home masturbating.

sounds like im starting to side with the company here.

I had a torn cartlidge in my knee... Worked 9 months with it and went for surgery when business slowed down. I was off for 3.5 weeks and came back for light duties sorting gay ass paperwork... And not one fuck was given that day :) then again everybody is different. Chuckle

Sounds like milking more money from the company. You can do it by all means, just don't expect a reference letter when you get better/work and get fired or eventually they make you quit.

Doubt you'd get much from this harassment claim.

PsycHo_DraGoN69 11-01-2013 10:47 PM

a joke's a joke. take things said like that with a grain of salt unless you KNOW he's hounding people for legit dirt on you to get you out.
if you're actually upset and have a problem, start with talking to the person who made the comment and tell them you don't like it. (as per chain of command)
if it persists, then MAYBE you have a case.

but someone makes a joke, doesn't go further with what was said, YOU personally feel uncomfortable and then now want to sue for harassment?? that's a bit far.

Gnomes 11-02-2013 08:32 AM

I guess a job is a job, even if working in a workplace where everyone hates you and think you are a burden & milking them.
