Anyway, back to the question. |
Canadian Tire or Princess Auto sell the 6/12 volt battery load testers for about $25. I have the $450 conductance tester that I used for a while but I find the cheaper testers work just as well. That's all I use now to test the deep cycle batteries, but unfortunately they are really designed to just check regular batteries. 6/12V Battery Tester | Princess Auto |
Yeah, I looked at those before. I remember the box stating the 6 volt part was just for voltage. However, it looks like Princess Auto has a Schumacher battery load tester on sale starting next week and reading the manual (pdf) on-line, it looks like it tests for loads on 6 volt batteries. |
The cheapie that I bought does load down the 6 volt deep cycle batteries but I did pay a little bit more for it. It's not all that accurate since the 6 volt voltage reading only uses half of the guage and its hard to read. When you buy your load tester, make sure it works. I bought one of those carbon pile ones with a big knob on the front of it a while back from PA and just put it away in my garage, still in the box. Tried to use it a year ago and it didn't work, no warranty either since it was bought so long ago and no receipt. Guess I should take it apart to see what wasn't connected inside.:okay: What's this about a full size dragster....................? |
