HID's on Accord Coupe 2008 Took my car into Honda dealer b/c one of my headlights was blown... to my pleasant surprise, it turns out they couldn't do anything for me b/c my car's previous owner actually installed an HID setup! The people working at the dealership couldn't provide places for me to go get my HID bulbs replaced, just wondering if there are any recommendations from RS'ers? I'm trying to find out what kind of bulb I'd need as well... but google isn't being very helpful, but maybe someone on here can decode what it says on my HID housing: STANLEY P7466 SAE AHRI5PP2 05 D0T V0R H11 |

We could probably help you out if you took a picture of the blown bulb. The previous owner could have: switched out headlights to ebay ones (with fake stanley writing/serials), changed out the bulb housing/projector, etc. History aside, show us the blown bulb and we'll identify it :) |
Personally, I would replace both bulbs at the same time - even getting the same type of bulb, there is a good chance that the colours won't match perfectly - for me, that would drive me crazy. |
Thanks for the replies so far guys, but I actually don't have any idea how to take the bulb out (or the ballast - just learned that term today). I went out with one of my friends today, much more 'in-the-know' than I am about this stuff and he suggested the same thing as lowside; so I think I'll get the both bulbs replaced at the same time... maybe the entire system. So, maybe I should really change the question to: where can I find a technician who can do the job for me? and whats the best way to go about it now? should I: 1 - buy the kit online (thinking phillips/morimoto) then find a technician to install? 2 - buy the kit at a shop and have it installed by their technician? Option 2 seems easiest, but not sure what the cost difference is, or where to go? |
do the install yourself. look at youtube videos or something. Make sure to take a look through your owner's manual for how to access the bulbs; I think u might need to go through the fender liner as opposed to going at it from your engine bay. It's really not that difficult, just need to be patient. |
You have to buy the right bulb type for your car, and if a previous owner has already messed with it, you may end up buying something that doesn't fit. You should still take out the bulb. It depends on your car, but you either just reach in from the hood, or you turn the wheel on whichever side it is in, and take out 3 or so of the plastic clips holding the fender liner in. Pry back fender liner, reach in, twist bulb and pull out. It's really that simple. Bring your car out to one of the random meets we have, and I'm certain someone will help. |
Yeah just do it yourself...you basically just need to plug stuff in. |
Oooooor, you could throw out the HID kit and put a proper halogen bulb back in... since I'm assuming there is no retrofit projector kit installed. ;) |
accord coupe has halogen projector, it's not that bad. |

DDM Tunning sells HID that are cheap and reliable. Theretrofitsource sells the best HID in my opinion, my morimoto has great output. |
