When I declined they just straight up asked "do you have any change". Didnt seem legit and kinda felt like a scam.
Im all for donating if its legit, next time I would ask for a charity or some sort of registration number. Just a warning to others not to give anything unless it's legit. |
this will be a perfect opportunity for those filipino scammers to get some money from people so im glad you declined and walked away. I am honestly ashamed that my own kind is doing this.
So for all RS members unaware of these scams, pls do not give money or donate unless it is really legit and you feel like giving. A lot of these ppl will hassle you and will go as far as asking you if you have a debit card and will ask you to withdraw at an ATM while they wait. If you come across one of them, dont make eye contact or just lay down a firm "NO" and walk away. Do not even pay attention to anything they say after because it will just ruin your day and possibly get you in a verbal arguement.
I remember being approached by 2 filipino girls in Robson and asked for donation for a charity i never heard of. I declined and walked away. while i was walking away they yelled at me stating that im an embarrassment for being their own kind but not wanting to help out. I just brushed it off and kept going. |
