wireless charging recommendations? So QI is apparently the most popular standard nowdays, used by the nexus 4 and 5 and a whole bunch of conversion "kits". any of you guys using it or have recommendations for a good fast kit for my S4 and Nexus 5? |

Amazon.com: Yes Digi QI Wireless Charger for LG Google Nexus 4 / Optimus Vu II, Nokia Lumia 920: Cell Phones & Accessories The one linked above claims it outputs 1.5A. Most seem to only output 1A. Nexus 5 has a 2300mah battery so it should be safe to charge as quickly as 2.5A, but for optimal battery lifetime performance you shouldn't frequently charge above 1.8A. Note what's likely more important is if the charger beeps or not, and how bright the LEDs are, especially if you're using it bedside. I bought the one below, which I hope has no audio sounds, and has a dim LED. Amazon.com: Lerway Wireless Qi Power Charger Pad for Lumia920 HTC 8X S4 S3 Note II (Black): Cell Phones & Accessories |
I just posted this in the Nexus 4 thread: If anyone is looking for a cheap wireless charger, this is perfect: QI Wireless Charger + USB Cable Black - Tmart.com It will take a few weeks to arrive but its only $19 including shipping. You need to use your own power adapter with it though. It has a little red LED to indicate that power is on, and a little green LED to indicate that your phone is charging. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...psddb7f706.jpg (Works with all Qi certified devices, not just for Nexus 4) This does not beep, and the LEDs are quite dim. (since the LEDs are underneath black translucent plastic) |
I'm starting a personal blog dedicated to Qi. I would get a bunch of different chargers in the next week or so. I will post my findings later. :) |

just an update, i grabbed a $18 unit/kit from Dealextreme and it works fine. came with reciever sticker, charging pad, and a micro usb cable. just ad your 2.1A usb power block. popped it into my S4 and worked like a charm. SKU: 308319 also worked with a co-worker's Nexus 5 has red and green LED like above and no annoying speaker beeps. only downside is the receiver causes a slight hump in the battery door so phone does not sit flat on a desk any more. kinda wobbly green = charging. red = powered on. |
I picked up the Nokia DT-900 off amazon for $25ish. Best purchase ever. No bright lights, charges faster than regular cable and relatively small. |

whats so good about wireless charging? whats wrong with the cable? |

Dealextreme has them for pretty cheap (if you don't mind waiting 3 weeks for it). don't have one yet to comment, just ordered it a couple days ago. |

Wireless should always be slower. The amperage is lower on wireless as the max output is around 900mah. Typical wired chargers for android phones are around 2A so wired charging is faster. |

Convenient when I don't feel like plugging in the cord though |

Most 2A or 3A chargers cannot handle at its max amp, it will restart by itself. If you charge a Note 2, it is not likely you can charge another phone together. I have never used a 900mah wireless charger, but the one we can buy in Asia, I see that it charges as slow as the PC usb2.0 port |
Does this work for note 3? |

weirdness. My OTG adapter fucks up when i have the pone on the charger. OTG will dismount on its own. causing transfer errors. |

Loved wireless charging on my Palm Pre. Will never go back to a cable. |
