Motorola unveils the affordable Moto G | ZDNet

Ikkaku 11-13-2013 05:57 PM

$179 usd is not bad

given £135 = ~$216 and €169 = $238

hongy 11-13-2013 07:44 PM

It actually comes with 4.3 jelly bean. Kit kat update is scheduled for January.

I got this phone for $150 on tab (koodo)
and a $75 gift card yesterday ..

most place give $75 gift card, LD and RCSS that I know off.

BaoTurbo 12-02-2013 08:35 AM

its a decent cheap phone in the $200-300 market. Comparable to the Nexus 4. I would highly reccommend this phone to anyone looking to enter the low priced android market.

shenmecar 12-02-2013 09:28 AM

I say it's more comparable to the HTC Desire 601.

this.

My Aunt just picked this up for $150 no contract/tab and I got a chance to play with it helping her set it up and unlock.

For the price the phone is super slick. Fast, nice quality feel, good materials. For basic email/surfing/video smartphone, this is a great choice.

You can also order it from Telus if you have a Teamstore login for $150

SpeedStars 12-02-2013 01:19 PM

Looks like I'm finally upgrading from the 3.3" xperia ray :alonehappy:

jaebomb 12-05-2013 12:15 PM

if this worked with wind, i would have picked one up for my mom and dad. they want a basic smartphone, and this is an awesome price for a pretty decent phone.

Does anyone know where I can get this locally? (Other than craigslist of course) And how's the flexibility regarding unlocking of the device?

Telus or Koodo. Unlocking is $5 USD off ebay and real easy, just put in foreign SIM and enter code.

SpeedStars 12-10-2013 08:58 AM

That's good, cause I'm with telus :alonehappy:
Edit: went to the Telus location at oakridge. Sales rep says they aren't selling the Moto G straight up with no term contract (despite the Telus website offering it). Even though I'm with Telus...tells me I HAVE to either extend my contract or join a new one to attain the phone (@ $0, I just want to pay 179.99 for the damn thing) :fulloffuck:

Ugh, that's hogwash. I have to buy a US Moto G.
Mobilicity.. :(

I'm hoping this trend of cheap smartphones continue. My S3 is starting to show its age, :okay: but at least it's not on fire like the S4's :troll:

I want to get this for my dad. Is Chinese a native language for selection or will I have to flash it with something from xda?

I need something before I leave in April, or just to get it in HK. It's about $18xx HKD retail and only $150+tax here, so this was my first choice. Wanted to get him the red rice one from HK but stock is horrible to get a hold of, was considering it because it was cheap and had an elderly/magnified mode. This Moto G looks more reliable and longer lasting anyways. If it's needs flashing to another ROM to get Chinese on there, I need to do it sooner than later to make sure everything works.

About the Nokia X, I was reading how it'd be a poor experience w/o the GAPPs. Will wait for the reviews I guess.
