help with remote start install

I have a 2003 dodge ram 2500 with STANDARD TRANS. Is there a factory remote start built into this truck that I can enable? If not, what is needed to wire this up. Can I just buy an alarm with free instalation, or will I be needing another $200 in extra goodies.

As far as I'm aware there's no "built in" remote start for that gen Ram.

Most of the newer Dodge's you can add a module and t-harness to remote start the vehicle without the need of an actual remote start brain.

Compustar - RS Firmware

But yours unfortunately you will need an alarm/starter combo with the module.

Well you don't really need an alarm with that but I think you should get one if you want to protect your ride. Not all starters are created equal. The best for standard transmissions are Compustars. They also rock for warranty and reliability.

If you are thinking of installing this yourself I would strongly urge you to think twice. In 2003, Dodge changed their trucks to a mostly can-bus data system. You connect the wrong wire to the wrong thing and you can make a very costly mistake. Leave it to the professionals and a shop with knowledgeable installers to ensure a proper installation.
