i wish news reporters can get the facts straight. they keep saying "metrotown" instead of "meadowtown" over and over again. |
I just found out which specific intersection the accident took place at. That intersection has Bad visibility not only that people always speed into it when coming into the mall from lougheed hwy. I've been through that way multiple times and the cars coming in don't stop at the line if they even do stop. Can't help but wonder now if that was the case with this incident :/ There's going to be a vigil/toy drive in Maple Ridge tonight @ 6:30 Vigil, toy drive for toddler run over in Pitt Meadows | News1130 |
I believe it was already stated by police, the driver was driving past the Vancity (southbound-ish?) and was turning left to the exit, hence the investigation the next morning into whether the driver could have been blinded by the sun coming over the liquor store building. I haven't heard anything as to which way the pedestrians were crossing, but I'd tend to think they were probably southbound in the crosswalk, and so didn't see the van coming from behind. http://easycaptures.com/fs/uploaded/830/9023614432.jpg View Screen Capture |

Ugh... just found out from a neighbour, that the woman who hit the toddler actually lives in our building :( (We suspected, as we recognized the wheelchair van) She (the driver) has to be one of the most polite, sweetest people I have met in a long, long time. She has a disabled daughter, and is fantastic with her. My wife and I are always left smiling after our breif encounters with the family in the elevators, etc. Such a positive, glass half-full kind of person. Not to mention, her and her daughter help out and fundraise for the Variety children's charity. :( Just when I thought this story couldn't get anymore sad... breaks my heart. :okay: |
