Problem with keyword and pop-up ads

All of a sudden my browser (Firefox) has ground to a halt due to being hijacked by an ad program. In-text keyword ads everywhere and constant pop-ups. I've checked my Task Manager and Programs lists but can't find what's causing this. Can anyone help me find the source of this annoying as fuck problem so I can eradicate it?

Thanks for the Adblock Plus suggestion, it's helping to identify the problem at least. That Malwarebytes program did absolutely nothing. I clicked full scan and it immediately said 0 results found; it didn't scan a thing.

akamaihd.net is the hijacker. It has now backdoored itself in to every website I visit. If I block that URL as a whole pages I visit now no longer load at all. Looking at the blocked content for Facebook for example you can see how it's working:

If I unblock it, whenever I click my mouse anywhere on the screen it pops up some bullshit ad. Ideas?

Is it something you're able to disable from launching at startup? Then clean it up?

i hate cleaning adware, you have to run multiple software and sometimes they dont get rid of it.

Did you try system restore?

In firefox click tools then add ons and see if it's something there. Does the same thing happen in IE?

i would try to use revo uninstaller on your firefox as it may gone deep enough on the registries...then try other browser to see if issue is still there (or try that first), the install firefox again

i use spybot search and destroy - not sure if it will help.

Ended up only infecting Firefox. Uninstalled the browser and ran multiple Adaware programs to clean out the computer. Reinstalled FF and the problem has gone away. Thanks all for your inputs.
