wow. i guess i'm going to be the only one answering the actual question posted.
the only female tech i knew worked at pacific yamaha (i know not automotive but close enough?). they made her start with the parts/accessories counter first (i guess to learn the ropes) before she moved to the shop. she worked on my bike when i brought it in for service but i haven't been back since it got stolen ... not sure if she's still there anymore. i remember she was a BCIT alumni like me because she finished the Motorcycle and Power Equipment Mechanic Full-time program the year before i completed my own program.
