Sony A7 and A7R

Anyone buying one of these bodies?

I'm thinking of picking up an A7 with the kit lens tomorrow.

Not sure I "need" the A7R mp count.

Screw the kit lens. Be a boss and get both this:

and this:

Lol!

Not wanting to invest into the Sony Alpha SLR system.

Looking into adapters for my Canon L lenses and Leica lenses.

Just seeing if that kit lens would be decent. :)

And if anyone else is buying this camera!

I've read on POTN that the Metabones adapter is hard to find atm (if you were looking for a good AF adapter).

Otherwise, if I didn't shoot ANY sports at all, I would've waiting for an A7R instead of getting a 6D. Some of the samples on POTN are looking mighty good.

Well, i decided to buy the camera with the kit for the heck of it.

i can't wait to try this thing out once the weather gets a bit better.

the metabones Speed Booster Canon adapter is nearly $700 before taxes. i think i'm going to wait a little bit on that one.

here's the full frame family shot:

I hate you so much :okay:

Edit: I just realized: What camera did you use for the family portrait?

I love you you're showing love to each and everyone of them, even though one is unlike the others (ahemeosmahem) :fullofwin:

So.. i Need a verdict.. A7r worth it?:D

kobe tai 12-11-2013 10:31 PM

Im gonna grab the a7. Played with it and the zeiss 35 f2 today. Nice combination. The focus peaking feature is very cool. I think the A7 is better value and the 36mp files of the a7r would kill my computer.

Most of your pics are landscapes and cityscapes, so for you, yes.

Not worth it if you shoot wildlife or sports.

My friend in Seattle just got an A7R, and the IQ is just as good as the D800E, judging from my limited experience with it.

Mashimaro 12-12-2013 11:34 PM

Liquid - I agree that the A7R will likely suit you better for your great landscape shots.

Kobe - do it buddy. It's a great body.

I just picked up another lens for the A7 tonight: Sony 35mm 2.8 Zeiss lens. Going to buy the metabones adapter this weekend for my Canon lenses. Maybe a Leica adapter too.

Hahahaha just the Leica in the centre would be $12k plus tax new.

Mashimaro 12-15-2013 10:40 PM

Lol I like my cameras :)

I decided to return the A7 kit that I bought and exchanged it for the A7R instead.

Also picked up a Metabones III Canon EF adapter for it.

I went this route for the resolution capability as I was thinking the A7 is pretty close to my 5D3 other than better DR.

Can't wait to shoot this thing outdoor. :)
