Do red light camera always flash? So this morning, while driving to work; being tired and all(coffee hasnt kicked in yet) I accidentally ran a red light. Thank god no one was coming through the other side. While halfway through the intersection, I noticed it was red so adrenaline kicked in, pulled over to the side afterwards to make sure I was okay. I didn't see or notice any flash though, so did I get caught by the red light camera? I was really spooked, I've been driving for over 7 years now and I've never been in an accident nor pulled over except for an incident where my fogs were on. This happened at 4:30am in North Van at a what would usually be busy intersection. |
could be a fake camera. there was an article on one of the papers that said cops are installing fake cameras |
not all intersections have cameras... |
In my area, barely any intersection/lights have cameras but all the ones that do, have a large flash. I haven't gotten one but I've seen multiple people get them when they're behind or in front of me and have tried making the light. |
To avoid flashing...don't run reds.....and stay away from homeless camps in Abbotsford. :) |

in the over 100+ red light cameras in the GVRD, apparently only half of them are on at a time, and that is based randomly. In the light of the half of them that are on at that specific time, all of them are reviewed before being acted on. |
also remember that most cameras are only active for the first couple of Seconds after the light goes red |
